FAQ
The Moon, quickly
When is the next full Moon?
See the calendar above — the next one is highlighted automatically. In late 2026: 26 October (Hunter's Moon, Taurus), 24 November (Beaver Moon, Gemini) and 24 December (Cold Moon, Cancer).
What is a supermoon?
A full or new Moon that falls near the Moon's closest point to Earth. The term was coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979 and isn't an official astronomical term, so definitions vary. In this calendar, the December 2026 and January 2027 full Moons qualify under both the original definition and the stricter one (closer than 360,000 km).
What is a Blue Moon?
Either the second full Moon in a calendar month, or the third of four full Moons in one astronomical season. The 20 May 2027 full Moon is a seasonal Blue Moon; the next monthly Blue Moon is on 31 December 2028.
How often does the Moon change sign?
About every 2.3 days — it crosses all twelve signs in a little over 27 days.
