Personality
The Taurus nature
Taurus is fixed earth — the most settled combination in the zodiac. It is known for patience, loyalty and a calm that steadies everyone around it. It builds slowly and keeps what it builds. The same steadiness can turn into stubbornness: once Taurus has decided, moving it takes time and a very good reason.
Growth edge: Treating change as something to taste, not something to resist.
Born on the cusp?
The dates move. Your chart doesn't.
The Sun is in exactly one sign at any moment, but the switch-over shifts by up to a day from year to year. If you were born near April 20 or May 20, only your exact birth time can say which side of the line you're on.
Taurus shares its element with Virgo and Capricorn. Its opposite sign is Scorpio.
Sun-sign traits describe a twelfth of the world. Your Moon, Rising and planets make them yours.
The Big Three
There's more to you than Taurus.
Your Sun sign comes from your birthday. Your Moon and Rising signs need the full date, time and place — and they change far faster.
Sun — your core self and identity. Changes sign about once a month.
Moon — your emotions and inner needs. Changes sign about every 2.3 days.
Rising — how you meet the world. Changes about every two hours on average.
The myth
The story of the bull
The Greeks saw Zeus in disguise: a magnificent white bull who won the trust of the Phoenician princess Europa and swam away with her to Crete. Greek star maps show only the front half of the bull — sometimes explained as the bull still half-submerged in the sea.
To the Babylonians this was the Bull of Heaven — the creature the goddess Ishtar sends against Gilgamesh in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
The ♉︎ glyph is a circle with horns: the bull's face seen head-on.
In the night sky
Taurus among the stars
Its brightest star, Aldebaran, marks the bull's eye. The name is Arabic for “the Follower,” because it seems to follow the Pleiades across the sky.
Taurus holds the Pleiades, the “Seven Sisters,” and the Crab Nebula — the remains of a supernova Chinese astronomers recorded in 1054 CE, bright enough to see in daylight for nearly a month.
